Why A Taylor Made Golf Club Is A Consistently Popular Choice
Taylor Made golf clubs are consistently popular choices with both amateurs and professionals alike, and have been now for thirty years. Ever since the early days when it was an independent company, Taylor Made has been at the forefront of innovation. The metal wood, which is now commonly seen, was the company's first major development. Back in the late 1970s, the metal wood was revolutionary technology, but the performance of the club quickly attracted the attention of people in the know. Five years later, Lee Trevino won a major championship, the US PGA, using this club.
From this early success, Taylormade was able to expand into other areas of golf equipment production. Soon, Taylor Made golf clubs and equipment were topping the best selling lists all over the world, and were being used by an ever increasing number of tour professionals. This inevitably attracted the attention of corporate raiders, and before long the company had been swallowed up by Salomon SA. The brand name was, of course, kept intact because of the reputation it had gained, and the takeover by a French conglomerate quickly facilitated international expansion.
Further expansion came fifteen years later when Adidas completed another company takeover. This gave Taylor Made a prominent position within the golf equipment industry. Since then, they have continued to have a massive influence on equipment used in both professional and amateur golf. One of the greatest innovations was the development of the rescue club, which has added control to shots which would traditionally have been made with either a fairway wood or a long iron. The longest irons are rarely used nowadays, and amateur golfers have even replaced their three and four irons with rescue clubs.
The rescue club is a type of hybrid club, having some of the features of a wood, but with the shaft length and control of an iron. The traditional problem of whether to hit a long iron or a fairway wood, or even which one to include in the bag, has largely been eliminated. Rescue clubs allow you to get loft on your stroke from poor lies, and from the rough, in the way that you could with a fairway wood, but they give you a far greater degree of control, akin to the iron club which gave a flatter trajectory.
The most recent innovation in Taylor Made clubs has been the introduction of Movable Weight Technology. First introduced in 2004, this gives the golfer the opportunity to change the CG location in the club head. The ability to change the cartridge to one of a different weight allows the golfer to change the way the ball is launched, giving flexibility to suit differing conditions. Taylor Made golf clubs continue to dominate the professional tours. It did not take long for the Movable Weight Technology drivers to easily outnumber the competition, and they have also proved popular with handicap players. Give your game the best possible chance with a Taylor Made golf club.
